The Quickdraw Animation Society (QAS) seeks an emerging animator to join their artistic and marketing team to create a signal film for their 2025 festival of independent animation, GIRAF.
The GIRAF signal film will screen at festival events and online as the "calling card" of the festival, the core piece of promotional material for GIRAF as a whole.
Job Description:
Work with the artistic director to plan a signal film up to 1 minute in length, including pre-production, production, and post production activities. They will also use design elements from their film to create print and online digital marketing assets (for posters, flyers, social media
templates, and festival website)
Who can apply?
The ideal candidate is an emerging or early-career animator who has completed or is undertaking post-secondary studies In animation, visual arts, design or similar, or has comparable experience or training, with proficiency with animation and design tools such as ToonBoom, Procreate, Adobe Creative Suite, Dragon Frame, etc. The animator will bring their own style and artistic approach to the film, with the opportunity to grow their skills in their preferred animation medium.
Funding for this job is provided by the Government of Canada's Summer Jobs Program. As a condition of this program, applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred, between the ages of 15-30 at the start of employment.

This role requires high levels of creativity, motivation and dedication and the ability to both collaborate artistically with the QAS team, and work independently in the studio. Candidates from communities historically underrepresented In animation (women, Indigenous, racialized and LGBTQ2S+) are strongly encouraged to apply for this opportunity.
Length of Project:
Starting date of contract: June 10, 2025
End date of contract: August 30, 2025
Payment:
$25/hour at 30/hours a week for the duration of the contract
